The time has come when I give my garage a good clean out in preparation for the GTR's hibernation.
After wiping any dust from the bike I remove the battery, add some petrol saver to the tank and store it away in a polythene bag so that when spring arrives it will be just as fresh as when I laid it up.
The MG Midget keeps it company over this long miserable period of time.

Did the same thing. I really wish I could take it with me to Florida this year but it won't fit in the suitcase. My g-kids also asked to go along but I have the same excuse for them. Hope it's a short winter. Harry

Yep...it is November...decided to put my GTR away for the year as well today. But, although i had a set back with the timng issue, before i took the battery out, i wanted to check out one last thing before i was done..... put a small piece of cardboard at each of the points so they can not make any contact, turned the key so the lights came on and it did without blowing the fuse....so i know i have a grounded wire some where that was making the problem on the right cylinder not firing very well ( keeping the key only in the first position-no lights on... it would run good on the left cyclinder and spit and sputter on the right one ) wiring is the problem for sure. So, i know what my job is for next year. Drained the gas out of the tank and took the tank off for a paint job on it this Winter, tarped over the bike... closed and locked the door and let it hibernate :-) bsforever

It is going to be 70 today.
But it is November and I have put stabilizer in the few
Bridgestones I keep fuel in and have removed the
batteries.
Hopefully we will have a mild winter.

Well i,m thinking of ;D :D bringing the bs right into the house and park it by the TV :o that way i can keep an eye on it..... I,ve put bikes up for winter and come spring found that a mouse was liveing in it. have you ever tryed to get a nest out of your muffler ::)

What do you call laying a bike away for the summer to avoid the heat? ;D ??? ;D

maybe you may have more than one bad connection .my gtr had a bad solder to one of the condensers causing it to carry on a bit .also my 175 had the issue of popping a fuse at the second setting if I ran the bike with the headlight out it was fine it was the earth wire to the speedo its a little different wiring but food for thought .also which i had forgot could be a condencer earthing on points cover

Coxy.... thanks for the possibilties on wiring issues. I Do have my points/gen. cover lined with electrical tape ( thanks to a member on this site mentioning that is what they had been doing to line theirs to prevent shorting out of condensor wiring ....sorry, cannot recall which member it was ). Also, i did have the cover completely off with the same result ( spitting and sputtering on the right side )....i just will need to go over ALL the wiring next year.... especially to do with the ignition system wiring. bsforever

Is "siesta" a good term for our summer situation?
The weather is finally good here for garage time, but now I find myself unemployed (downsized) so no tinker time in the near future for me.

Just put my Bridgestone 350 GTO in the Northeast Classic Car Museum.
It is a great place to store my bike until spring.

I have a 350 GTR, gold 350 GTO, 350 Racer built by Bert Lilley, 175 HS, TR25W Triumph, and a 124 Sears
on display.
There are 37 motorcycles in display which include; Harley, BMW, Zundapp, Indian, Norton, Whizzard,
Cushman, Henderson, Hetchen, Excelsior, Emblems, Triumph, Bridgestone, Rockford, and a Go-Devil
fold up mini bike.
I'm hoping to get the Bridgestone 100 SR Factory Racer in there by spring.
