Just thought I would share some pictures of my other interests as the snow starts to fly this morning. The silver snowmobile is a 1968 Snowbug made in Canada. It is aluminum and was equipped with a single ski and a 300 Hirth engine. It was mostly used by foresters, loggers and the like. It was known to be excellent for cutting a path through deep snow in the woods. Bought off a owner who had it since 1969 or so. It was located off the beaten path in his storage barn in the State of Maine.
The blue sleds are assorted Snojets, Also built in Canada and mostly factory equipped with Yamaha engines. Snojet was bought out by Kawasaki around 1976. Kawasaki was in a rush to get into the snowmobile market in order to meet contract obligations and buying Snojet was the fastest opportunity to get things going. The 1977 Snojet was actually a rebadged Kawasaki.
By mid to late 1970's, the snowmobile market had bottomed out and most of the companies went out of business or left the snowmobile business.
