Serial ID numbers for HM/S Homer Bridgestone ?
« on: December 18, 2015, 10:56:09 PM »
I was looking at the serial ID chart on this web site. But, it doesn't have any information on the 50 cc step-thru.    I have serial Number 7NO 32792.
Anyone know what year this is?  Assume it is a 50 cc.   Thank you.  Kevin

Sorry that I don't have any idea how to find out.  I have a brand new replacement engine made in 1965 for a 50cc Step Tru that has 50cc marked on the cylinder where it mounts on the case. My engine has never ran except to put gas in the carb and started to see if it would run. The number on it is 7Z035750. I intended to put it in a bicycle but could never find the right 24 inch cruzer type. Now that I am 75 years old, I guess that I should give up on that idea.  Oldguy

Hi,

I based the "Serial Number ID Guide" on  a list I'd made of bike serials that I'd seen either "in the flesh"  or on eBay. At the time I was interested in the Disc Valve engined models (hence my site "handle"). The smaller fan-cooled 50cc bikes didn't excite me and they never seemed to appear on eBay or at Bike shows, so I had no info on them.

As a result, I have no date information on the  BS7, or 50 Homer models.  There do seem to be a few of these bikes on this site now, so maybe the owners would like post their bike's serial numbers. With luck,  there might be enough to get some idea of the dating sequence - although I will need quite a few different bikes to start creating a table.

Over to you, chaps!

Hi, Kevin,

I've had a look though all the posts on this site  for  the 50 Homer, and I can only find one other post giving a serial number, and that is 7N032935 - a bike built in the same month as yours. Further searching around factory parts books has only given one further 50 Homer serial, 7T016598, as the point at which a part was modified. That, however does give us a starting point as the parts book states that it was manufactured in August 1963.

As your bike is a much higher number, this suggests yours is either February 1965 or February 1967. The 50 Homer stayed in production longer than its companion BS-7, and the 1967/8 Sales brochures still show the Homer as being available in the US. So, without a couple more intervening serial to provide some "target points", it's impossible to determine whether yours is a '65 or a '67 model.

Maybe  some fellow Homer owners can provide the intervening serial numbers?

Thank you for the feedback. I now own FOUR of the Bridgestone Homer. Here is some information that may help:
7 N 032792   I was told it was a 1965
7 0 033269   It is titled in my name and is a 1965
7 S 034730   I was told it was a 1965
7 G 037928   I was told it was a 1966

I will most likely take them all to Mid Ohio for resale in my vendor booth # Z558
