Removing grips from handlebars

Mountain 90 with oil injection project and stumped with the left handlebar grip refusing to come off.  I've tried warm soapy water, heat, penetrating oil and pounded on a rounded piece of metal against the inside rubber collar.  Hasn't budged a bit.  Used a strap wrench and again no movement. It's in pretty nice shape so would like to save it. Any one have suggestions?  Thanks.

I have used some very thin (but stiff) metal (long, narrow  piece of shim stock) to slide underneath the grip. If you lubricate the metal and slowly probe around the grip, going progressively deeper as the grip breaks away from the handlebar, you can eventually break it loose. This approach is not fool proof and can damage the grip, so go slow and only force the shim small degrees at a time.

A long thin screwdriver works, also.  Whether you use a shim or screwdriver, get it worked or driven most of the way to the outer end, spray WD-40 into the gap, pull the metal out. Massage the grip to work the WD-40 around inside it and it will pull right off.

work the tip of your air blower gun in between the grip & handle bar and give it a blast , see if that loosens it ?
