Seat strap question; 350 GTR
« on: August 08, 2018, 12:39:17 AM »
My GTR came without a seat strap.  I can clearly see the outline in the suede area of the seat cover where the strap used to be; however i question where the strap attaches under the seat.  The outline left by the strap in the suede area is very slightly ahead of the 4th rivet from the front of seat.  the seat pan has two 6 mm studs with nuts; these studs are not quite half-way past the 3rd rivet from the front of the seat.  Looking at pictures from magazine road tests and factory ads, the strap clearly appears to angle forward so i am guessing those two 6 mm studs are where the strap attaches to the pan.  Is my observation correct?  My next question, does anyone have a good used seat strap they would be wiling to sell?  My seat cover is in amazingly good condition, so if anyone has a seat strap in comparable condition available to sell, i would be grateful for your help.  Or if you have an old nasty one to sell, i would also be appreciative to purchase as a sample by which a local friend who does motorcycle upholstery only could make me a replacement.  i would like to have a nice original, as then it would be a match for the original sat cover on my GTR; but beggers can't be choosey.  Thanks in advance for any help you may offer.

If no one else comes forward with a strap in better condition, you can have this one for the price of postage. It would provide your friend a good example to use when making you one.
