Slow Forum - Problems?
« on: October 28, 2013, 09:26:24 AM »
Is there something wrong with the forum software or server? It has been painfully slow to load lately. Just wondering, as it's sometimes taking me 15-30 seconds to open and move from page to page. I've tried multiple computers and locations with the same results.

Anybody else experiencing this?

I am experiencing the same thing. The performance is not consistant. As you say, sometimes (in my case at least half the time) it can be very slow...

I'll notify the hosting company and have them look to see if there are issues with the sever. The other thing would be the network you are accessing the site from.

Thought I'd check back and let you know I'm still having the same issues with the site. Have you heard anything with the hosting company yet? Any other site I go to loads up normally, it's just this one that seems to take forever and sometimes, I get a message that IE can't open the webpage requested.

just put in a support ticket for the site running slow. The error could have been while I was making a server settings edit, because I did not put the site in mainteanace mode first.

Got a response back from the support guys. Seems we sometimes hit our ram and processor allocation for shared hosting which causes the site to slow down.
The same thing that happens on your own computers when you have to many processor intensive task, the computer slows down.

Stay tuned...

I'll keep the logs clean and the database tables optimized, should help. I can't really do anything to optimize the images uploaded.

I've noticed the size of the images is restricted in the classifieds. Can that not be done for the ones posted on the forum. If not, maybe the members can/should self regulate the ones they upload and make sure they are "computer" friendly.

Wow, the new ones added this evening really slowed things down! They are all 3264x1836 and should be something like 1600x898 at the most. Can barely open the thread without getting an error message. (opened on the 3rd try)

There needs to be limits.
