I've looked at pictures and think I've seen the hubs both polished and painted. Mine appear to have been painted. Does anyone know how they came from the factory?
-
I believe the 175, 200, and 350 were polished. All the other bikes I've seen, 100cc and smaller, had painted hubs.
-
I recall this conversation from long ago. The 175's, 200's and 350's had polished hubs while all the smaller displacement bikes had pained hubs.
The debate centered on whether or not to clear coat them to protect the finish. I believe that ended up in a stalemate which turned into "owners choice".

Thank you very much for the information. Appreciate it.

I agree the debate on clear coat or not on the hubs of the 350-175-200's remains as a stalemate.
But just in case you do decide to clear coat, I've found that clear powder coating produces a finish extremely close to what was on my 350 when I purchased it new. No other finish I've tried over the years comes even close, as they are not adequately heat, scratch or solvent resistant.
