I just received my throttle cables from motion pro today and they look great. Please see the pictures for the details.
-
Yep, I have had good success with their cables and tools. Glad you are happy with the cables. ;D

That looks fantastic i can get cables made locally for around$100 but only in black
-
Thanks for posting this. I've used Motion Pro in the past with success. I didn't think of using them for my Bridgestone rebuild but after looking at your photos, I'll do it.
Did you have the speedometer cable and brake cables rebuilt too? All my cables are nasty.
-
I also had great service from Motion Pro.
Sent them the old throttle cable and they duplicated it perfectly.
-
Hi
Cannot get cables anywhere, Could you let know the invoice no for your cables and I could ask them to do a copy per your specs? What do you think. It is possible that a number of people may need this cable and it could be worthwhile making a few, if the price is right I would buy a number as I know as least 2 people who need them.

I've used this company to copy cables. :)

Hi Ziggy
Thanks Ziggy, can you tell me about them. I have a few questions, hope you don't mind
1.Were you able to get Grey Cables?
2.Did they need to use parts from your old cables ? (the reason I ask , I have only one carb cable, one throttle cable, one oil pump cable and the no junction box)
3.Were they modern cables with the nylon insert?
4.Most important of all, did they work well?

Hey Pat, this company has been going for years, they always have a stall at Stafford for the classic bike shows.
I had two cables copied for my GTR, they were black as standard all new parts and were perfect and work well.
I can't remember if they had nylon inserts or not.
I do remember seeing junction tubes on their stall, give them a ring they are very helpful, I'm sure they will sort you out.

P.S. I've just had a quick look on the site and they do three different shades of grey.

no those came from Richard. The throttle cables were the only ones out of stock.
-
The invoice number is on the picture. I have not considered re-distributing maybe Richard would want some in his stock though.
-
I emailed Motion Pro about getting a 175DT throttle cable made. Here is the reply I got:
Thank you for contacting Motion Pro, Inc. for your cable needs.
Unfortunately we won’t be able to assist with your request.
While we do operate a custom cable shop, we are only building +/- versions of cables we currently have designs of.
We have never produced a line of replacement cables for your application, nor do we have information documented on your stock cables.
The sample based custom cable part of our program is under review at this time.
If you still need assistance, please check back with us within 4-6 weeks to see if we are able to offer more help with your project.
We appreciate your understanding.

Dan,
I'd email them a copy of the above picture with the invoice # and ask them... "What's up?"
-
I did, and in a very nice way. I'm not 100% sure but it appears as if they put the brakes on the sample based custom cable division. Also known as "we aren't doing custom cable reproductions right now".
-
I think Barnett (clutch) makes custom cables. Not sure if then have grey though.

They just responded to my follow up email and clearly stated they have suspended doing custom builds. They are currently reviewing for new pricing and policy and may offer that service again in the coming months. I am welcome to check back with them in a month or so and they appreciate my persistence.
Thanks Paul - Ill check them out.

That is disappointing as they were in my list of sources for parts for my wife's BS175HS HS. Keep us in the loop, as I will need two for this project!

Mike - you never fail to make me laugh. Glad your sense of humor survived the hurricane even if your pet armadillo didn't.

R.I.P "Andy" dillo !

I have used vinyl spray paint on a couple of my discoloured cables and they look good. You can also use the paint on seat logos.
Cheers

I guess if someone were to have some produced, they would sell like hot cakes!
-
The guys that past reproduced cables, are not making any more due to lack of sales
after they spend their money stocking up. Example, I know they till have the 350 Clutch
cables that everyone seemed to want, now they still have lots of them that nobody buys. :-[
I think they will leave throttle cable project to others, if anyone wants to step up and have them
made, I will take one.

I purchased one from Richard a couple of years ago. You might check and see if he still has any.
-
Unfortunately, RC has sold out.....
-
UPDATE
I sent another follow up email on Friday and they responded with "we are back to making custom cables". They quoted me a price of between $135 and 185 which includes me sending them the original one that I have.
DaN

Kind of makes the ones Richard has for 85$ sound cheap.

Richard has original 175 throttle cables for $85 ?? I was not aware. Are they reproductions or NOS parts?
-
I was under the impression he’d sold out?
