To answer my own question: I found a local guy who got the color down and did a great job. The cost was $500 for gas, oil tanks and battery cover. When I went to his shop he was working on a '63 split window vet. The local vet guys trust their cars to him.

This is how my paint and chrome job turned out. The tank was once dented with a pound of rust on the inside! No fillers or sealers used.

Who did the chrome?

The finished product looks great.

So - $500.00 for the paint... or, for the paint, rust removal, dent repair AND Chrome....?

Might be worth shipping to Michigan..

Sorry Mitch, $500 for paint only. Chrome $350. Metal restoration - labor and a friend who is a very good welder.

Bob,
You right on the price, the chrome on my tank was 550.00 plus paint and the tank has never had fuel in it Philip re welded the seams.
So a lot of time has gone in to the tank but it was a great job!!
Thanks.
Steve.
