50, 60, 90 & 100 Talk / BS 100 TMX clutch friction disks
« Last post by TMX_Maverick on January 27, 2024, 04:48:39 PM »
Hello, all --
I'm getting my engine back together with new bearings and seals, and just decided I might as well replace the clutch friction disks. The steel clutch plates look fine.
Are these equivalent to any clutch kits used on any of the Big Four's cycle models (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki)? Or is this just an order-from-Richard item?
I looked through all the downloaded manuals, articles, as well as the Search function and writings by the late disc_valve, and can't find anything.
Thanks.

OFF TOPIC not Bridgestone related / Temp difference
« Last post by mike1948 on January 19, 2024, 02:39:04 AM »
I hope all of you are keeping as warm as possible, I've being watching the weather across the US for the last few days and am stricken by the difference between where you are and here. All I remember being young in Frankfort is the snow.  At the moment there is a 90 degree difference between where I grew up and here in Australia.  You are -17F and I am 97F - A hell of a difference!  I'm losing the battle to keep cool, but at least I can get outside.
Keep safe,
Mike

Sent, Thank you.

I think electric vehicles will someday replace ICE power, but it will take another couple of decades. Gas engine technology took what, 50 or so years before it was viable. But wait, luckily we have Big Brother, er, the government, coming to the rescue with tax money from you and I, creating mandates, subsidies, and propaganda to ram this down our throats, whether the electric infrastructure can physically handle the load or not. I won't be buying into the electric vehicle scam anytime soon.

« Last post by JoeMamma on January 16, 2024, 03:27:07 PM »
Hello, I'm a new member here. I remember speaking to Richard many years ago when I first acquired my BS50 from the original owner here outside of Buffalo NY. Sent an email out but didn't hear back. Wondering if the warehouse is still open and selling parts? If not, I'm looking for the carb side cover so we can get this thing tuned up and start ripping wheelies for miles  ;D

Thanks in advance for any help.
Joe

50, 60, 90 & 100 Talk / BS50 Sport
« Last post by CL-100 on January 15, 2024, 02:22:09 PM »
Hello all,

I'm slowly getting around to starting the full restoration of a BS50 Sport.  I'm getting ready to send the iron cylinder out to be bored for a 2nd over piston and I've started breaking down the rest of the engine to clean the internals and transplant the innards over to another set of cases I have.  The original cases have a crack in the bottom...I presume from running over or hitting something.

My purpose in posting is to see if anyone has a copy of the printed instructions on how to mount a set of BS saddle bags on the bike.  The bags came with the bike, along with an assortment of "mounting" hardware.  It's possible that I have all the parts for mounting, but I'm not completely sure.  I've seen some bags for sale on eBay, and it appears to me that there might have been at least two different mounting systems depending on bike size/model.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I saw this on an automotive tech show a few weeks ago.
It won't convince me to buy an EV, but I guess it could mitigate my first complaint.
