Hi folks -
mqqn here (Last name is moon, the q's in my id are supposed to look like the old moon eyes logo from moon racing...)
I have several vintage Japanese bikes I am working on as projects:
1982 YZ 490 - pretty nice, almost 100% stock original.
1979 Yamaha GT80 - runs, but needs a lot of TLC
1980 Yamaha GT80 - rougher than the other one but will run
1973 Yamaha RD350 - very rough - was given to me free so I could not turn it down...
1980 Honda CB125s - Runs - needs work, another freebie, not too bad condition
1980 Honda CB 650 - Runs, rough - do not know much about it as I just got it - another freebie!
and now what you all will be most interested in -
1970 Bridgestone TMX100 - barn fresh, but only 160 miles on odometer.
You can see pics of the TMX here:
http://www.iammoon.com/albums/Bridgestone%20TMX100/I will be looking for fork legs it appears, as I see that the lower fork leg is cracked.
I have had this bike for 10 years, and my late step-father had it before me. It has always just sat in the garage, and when my step-father gave it to me before he passed, I did get it running.
I will be taking it apart and cleaning it up somewhat. I would like to first just get it running well and cleaned up (not polished etc - just CLEAN).
Then I will decide if I should keep it with patina or go ahead and do a full resto.
I look forward to reading the info here and I'll be buying some parts - I know I need one of Richards carb boots.
I was excited to find this forum and I look forward to being a member here.
best regards -
