Hi Newark UK
« on: March 05, 2017, 05:33:19 PM »
Hi All,

Just introducing myself I'm from Newark in the UK, I have had bikes since the early 80's and was riding 2 strokes back then, I have not had a BS before and know relatively little about them other than what I have read on the web in the last couple of weeks.

I have recently bought a brace of 175 twins both are incomplete. The more complete is (was) a dual twin / roadster, the other is a Hurricane Scrambler. The project is to initially return the 175 dual twin in relatively standard form from what I have.

Then assess what I have left and see what I can concoct.

I'll be looking for lots of advise and some parts.

Dave

Thanks Bert,
Attached is the starting point, today the finish line seems quite a long way off.

It'll probably be best to open a thread under the technical section regarding the project.

Hey Dave. Certainly not the worst starting point we've seen. Good luck.

Hi Dave, welcome to the BS, UK branch. There's a handfull of us currently active on the site. We seem to be well spread out but there's at least two other UK member currently restoring a 175. Ask any questions you like, someone will know the answer but beware  ;D, you can get hooked on Bridgestones  :o, next thing you know you will have a workshop full of them  8). Good luck.

I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!

Hi Dave and welcome, think I saw these on eBay? You'll need deep pockets to restore them.

Ziggy, from no where near Blackpool.

Ziggy
Yes they were off ebay, I wanted a project and had been looking for something from my youth but X7's, RD400's, 350LC's or any other 80's 2 strokes are crazy money, even for a box of bits. So I've got something as old as I am instead.

The plan is to get the more complete bike up & going using the 2nd for spares, I don't want to get ahead of myself but am hatching a plan for the 2nd.

Brian,
These 2 make 6 bikes so I don't think I'll fit much else in the garage,

Dave
