If Ahmet Ertegun was involved it was legit, but this would have been early in his career, so maybe he was just "comin' up" too.

Didn't Jim Trader have a BS site at one time? I recall some photos of Rockford Motors Executives on it, photos I don't recall seeing elsewhere.

Jim Trader did have a site.

Jim was a wealth of Bridgestone knowledge and history.
His passing was a loss to all the Bridgestone family.

There is also a Yahoo site for Bridgestone's.

Well, Kleindorf's last post gave me a start point, so I did some research of my own. A few clicks led me onto the Scrambler Cycles website, where they had a scan of a "Bridgestone by Rockford" dealer Newsletter for July 1965 that gave the definitive story. Apparently, the song was written by Bridgestone Dealer Jim Cunningham of Malone, N.Y. and recorded by Tommy Dishaw & the Panthers - both of these names are credited as writers on the A-Side label.

Jim started using the record in conjunction with his Radio advertising, but then the local disc jockeys  noticed it and started to give it some airplay. At this point, Rockford picked up and the Newsletter article suggested it could have real promotional possibilities, and suggested dealers contact Jim Cunningham about availability of the discs.

Jim 's dealership was County Farm Supply of Malone N.Y. I wonder if anyone out there remembers them?

Thanks for doing the research Graham. I can't believe that all this time, this information was "hidden" right under our noses on Kevin's website.  :o

It appears, I need to do more snooping on his site!

I tried to find "County Farm Supply of Malone N.Y." yesterday with google. Tried several different searches and came up empty. Lots of Tractor Supply and other contemporary stores of this ilk, but no County Farm Supply. We probably need a resident to help.

http://www.malonetown.com/index.htm or http://www.malonevillage.com/index.htm

Both have the same zip code. I'm sure an email to one of the current elected officials would gather an answer.

This is a wholly unrelated post that should reasonate with Graham...lets ask Fred Briggs. And that connection goes back to the early 80's and the I.O.M.

   Fiction,
I noticed they also make and sell repro instrument panels. Was the seller stretching the truth about finding it in his memorabilia ??
Put it back on Ebay after a little while, could get your money back.                    Brian.
