BS wins Daytona 1966
« on: April 12, 2009, 12:04:58 PM »
Bridgestone at Daytona 1966

I got a  email from someone (I am not going to slam anyone) claiming to own this video, I got this
video directly from YOU TUBE which is free to the public, its YOU TUBE address is  youtube.com/watch?v=OhoFIwM6aP8#

If the owner removes it from you tube, it will will leave here too, as the above is directly linked from you tube.  Even the video
displays YOU TUBE. You can remove the you tube  on the you tube sections called "Report profile image violation"

I am sorry to find out the BS world is so touchy  as this person wanted this video removed NOW

We can only thank whoever placed this footage on you tube. This is exactly the kind of stuff I think everybody loves to see. And thanks to you for posting it Jeff. Mark.

Mark I am with you, its a shame, "someone" wanted it removed, it a great clip, just what folks want to see.  I am a moderator
on this board, I see nothing wrong with the video, since the link is directly from "you tube" which is in the free domain to the public

Thanks for bringing this back up, i had not watched it lately. Hard to believe its almost 50 years old. I think Dwaine Williams, the rider of Bridgestone # 155, raced  the machine in  AAMRR  races also.  I think Mr Williams died a few years ago.

Nice video

On the same theme see link to a modified BS 100 Sport (The Honey Special) which came second in its class at Bathurst NSW in 1970:

I think Dwaine passed away at Barber in a crash on his Norton in 2007. Interesting guy. Talked to him at Barber for a while in 2006 about all the stuff he did to Bridgestone over the years. I only briefly talked to him in 2007 on the day he passed.

Here's one of his bike from 2006 at Barber. I'll try and put the rest in a gallery

I wonder if the black bike pictured is part of the #155 Daytona bike?

I don't know for sure but apparently when Dwaine showed up to Barber to race (2006) he had brought along some NOS (tool kits i think) parts that he didn't need and wanted to give to some Bridgestone enthusiasts if he were to run into any. He sees the big Bridgestone banners for the rally on his way in and went to the the tent and they asked his name and he said Dwaine Williams. They said oh great, we have your Daytona winning bike on display for the rally. He apparently said he didn't think so because that bike was on his trailer along with his Norton right outside the tent.

At around 32 seconds in is  factory rider Carmen Vaugn seen drinking a carton of milk wearing his trademark black leather jacket of Fort Atkinson,WI. He sold me a used BS 90 followed by a new 175 . I later bought a used 350 GTR in Oconomowoc,WI.
Carmen in his retirement rides a Gullwing

Dwaine Williams is the reason I got started with Bridgestones. I started racing in 1973 with the FGPRA in Florida which Dwaine started. His encouragement kept me going.
