I'm throwing this out there to see if there is any interest in a run of 40T rear sprockets. Sprocket Specialties will make some for us.   I will probably get one or two and it seems like there is interest on the Facebook forum.  Probably about $70/each after shipping.  I'm not making any money on this deal just trying to make it easy on anyone interested.    There is no "minimum" but we might get a discount if we can get 25 or more.

**Does anyone have an old 40 tooth sprocket they are willing to let me borrow for this?  Even if you are not interested in a sew sprocket it would help.  I can provide measurements to Sprocket Specialties but if there is a problem it will ruin a whole set at our cost.  If we can provide an actual sprocket to copy then any foul-ups are their responsibility.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Todd Wallis

I'm in for 1.

EDIT: I'm gonna back off on the 40T until I see what the consensus is on the best option.

I just realized; a 40 tooth rear sprocket makes the overall ratio in 6th within 1% of the stock 5th ratio, so it will be like riding around in 5th gear, so why change?  However, a 38 tooth rear almost exactly splits the difference between stock 5th and 6th ratios. I'd be interested in a 38T sprocket, but have changed my mind on a 40.

Regardless, I have a used stock rear sprocket that Sprocket Specialists could use as a pattern.  Puchman66, if you want it to send to SS, I'll send it to you, or if you do place an order, I probably could send it directly to SS (assuming they agree they can coordinate my sprocket and your order).

I agree with Karl but hadn't done the math(s).  For general use a 38T sprocket would be a better compromise and I would take at least two.
Unspoiled by progress.
I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!

Karl I had a 40 tooth made but didn't realize it made the gearing the same as riding in 5th with stock gearing. Didn't do the math! I would be interested in a 38 tooth.
