Title: badges
Post by: Gizo on January 19, 2015, 10:22:29 PM
I am repainting my 175 DT I would like to remove the badges on the side cover and tank before painting,
how do I remove them?  can they be reattached later or will they then need to be screwed or bolted?

The tank badges are attached with small screws, so are easily removable (unless rusted, of course).  The side cover emblems are attached with hollow brass rivets. Just grind off the backside and remove.  There is a whole thread about the side cover emblem rivets and replacement: http://bridgestonemotorcycleparts.com/index.php?topic=3491.0 (http://bridgestonemotorcycleparts.com/index.php?topic=3491.0)

Does anybody know the size/thread of the tank emblem screws?  I ordered some as per the part number and they are not correct (too big).
I'm sure I can get them online or elsewhere if I know the size.  they are too small for my SAE and Metric thread checkers.

Also, what can I use to put the VIN ID plate onto the frame (Under your butt on the right side)?  I can't find a rivet small enough and the pins that were originally there are not usable.

These are for a 175HS.

Hey josh,
The badge screws are M3x6 in the parts catalog.  There is another post covering thread pitch.  It says the pitch is .6mm not the standard.  Here's a link.

Hope this helps.  Good luck, Steve
