tires?
« on: November 30, 2008, 05:44:23 PM »
Has anyone tried the Kings motorcycle tires? I have old Cheng Shins on my GTR now that should be replaced due to age. They are both 3.25x19, but the rear tire seems too small and narrow and the front is too wide (it rubs the fender supports when turning). I'm thinking of the Kings KT-922 for the front and KT-918 for the rear. But it also looks like finding a dealer might be a bit of a challenge too. I don't need them right away, but by the coming spring would be good.

I usually run the Dunlop K70 tires.  Not cheap, but good quality...

Scot, thanks for another brand and model that works. Maybe I can find them a bit cheaper on ebay if I watch for awhile. BTW, when I tried clicking on both "show unread posts since last visit" and "show new replies to your posts" your response wasn't listed.... ???

When I bought the GTR in '80, it was painted a dull black which certainly didn't look original. I stripped that off and went to the local parts store. I don't think I have any notes or dried paint can remaining, but I think the metallic blue was some late '70s Chevy color that looked good (to me) on a paint chip. It was also missing one exhaust core, so we pulled the other one out and used conduit to fabricate one. We knew it'd never rust.
