Bridgestone Expansion Chambers
« on: October 24, 2009, 09:51:45 AM »
Is anyone making expansion chambers for Bridgestones?  I'm working on a 200cc model that is being customized, not restored, and the owner is interested in a pair of pipes.  I have a program that outputs plotter files for cutting steel to make cones, but there is no skill nearby to weld the sheet steel or roll the cones and assemble them.  The bike was originally a high pipe model, and the owner is interested in a low pipe set of chambers.  If these can be purchased rather than fabricated, please respond with contact information. We'll save a lot of time and get a better product to the owner.

I made a cone for a BS100 last month. If you look in the "How To" section here I made a quick write up. I can make them up if you want. Do you have the measurements of the chambers? Otherwise I have a chamber making program if you can get me some specs then they would be specifically for the 200. As I don't think the "Tuning Up For Competition" has a section for the 200. The 175 they do but I wouldn't use them on the 200 for how much two strokes rely on the exhaust for performance.

Thank you very much for the reply.  With the cylinders in hand and the program I already have, I can output plotter files that when printed result in blanks for rolling the cones, tacking them to fit, welding, etc.  I was hoping to avoid all that and buy a pipe set.  given what I experienced today, the pipes will be the least of my worries.  I now have much bigger fish to fry, like a generator that's toasty.  I may revisit this issue once other, more pressing issues are addressed, but right now too may other parts of the engine are shot.

Hello, I'm currently fabricating a number of sets of expansion chambers for roadracing B/S 175/200s.  I have photos that I can forward to you if you are interested.  Get in touch via email ksmolenski at yahoo dot com.

Thanks
