buyer protection /buyer beware

in regards to a recent post about the exhaust system i bought for the triumph off evil bay which were the wrong shape and had missing and defective pieces   . i opened a case and it got escalated to a buyer protection claim which apparently i won ebay/paypal said to send them back and provide a tracking number as soon as they receive a tracking number they will issue a full refund .so i did this payed my $150 postage entered the tracking number double checked  everything.then i got a message from paypal saying as soon as the seller receives the goods undamaged then i will be issued a full refund   .i raced down to the post office to get the pipes and a refund on the post and was left with no option but to cancel the claim .i am dealing with criminals who would have said they did not receive  them or they would have been damaged so i would have been a further 150 out of pocket which would be a total loss of near $600 .these criminals are now advertising the original photo on these pipes knowingly with a wrong set inside the box that some poor sucker will buy .i am going to advertise the pipes i have with the same wording so the add should be close to there's and hopefully customers will see my pipes first and not buy there crap .its a case of buyer beware and buyer protection does not work

That's bad news mate. Are you gonna just drop it there or contact ebay and paypal again. It seems as though you could do something else. What kind of rating did the seller have?

i cant reopen the case i don't think i was left with any options i had to close it after i got the pipes back from the post office , i suppose i could have just not said anything to ebay/paypal but that would have been to dishonest the only thing that i can do is advertise these pipes for what they are and hope someone with a chopper would buy them at half price

You should have let it continue. I believe that PayPal always errs on the side of the buyer. That has been my experience.
I can see where you would not have wanted to take the chance but I've always had good luck.
