The NPR rings don't have a T mark on them as far as I can tell.

However, I do have 2 sets of rings (4 each in red boxes) made by the Teikoku Piston Ring Co Ltd which are marked with a T. Does this indicate the top or manufacturer, I don't know.   They have the part No. 1351-9000, not the normal 1305-9000 shown in the manual.
They are the same size as the NPR rings and should fit the 350. Anyone come across these, can't think of another BS model they could fit.

The 1305-9000 set only has two rings per box, so the 1351-9000 with 4 rings must be a special service set, although I haven't seen any documentation on that.  Rockford offered an engine repair service on all the engines, maybe those were originally intended for use by Rockford's technicians.

I have one of those 1351-9000 4 ring sets.  They came with a set of pistons I bought on eBay several years ago from that guy in Canada that was selling a ton of stuff.

Is it safe to say that NPR rings easily available on the net are both the same and not one of them for the top and the other bottom l can't see any difference but if there is l'm in with 50/50 chance of a few of my bikes being wrong.
I sincerely hope not.

         Alan,
Don't worry, both NPR rings are identical, so can be fitted in either slot and anyway up. I've just fitted some on new pistons but did put the NPR marks at the top incase I ever take them off and can put them back same way up. Just me being pedantic  ;)
Karl & Pup, Thanks for feedback, I've also never seen any reference to these rings in Service letters, etc. The TPR rings are slightly different in having sharp square corners on their outer face that bears against the barrel. NPR rings have a small bevel on the edges which could be kinder to the chrome bore.

Thinking about it, a 'T' mark can indicate a top ring on a 3 ring 4stroke piston, it can also indicate which side is fitted to the top on a taper edge, oil contol ring. Our 2S engines don't need an oil control ring so the T on the Teikoku rings is most likely the manufacturers mark.

Did a bit of research, Teikoku (TPR) now have a link to ART who made our 350 pistons. I wondered if Tiekoku were also an alternative supplier of 350 barrels but couldn't find any firm proof that they had a foundry which could have made these. They are still going strong and are currently OEM suppliers to Nissan, Toyota, Suzuki and Yamaha. More information here :-
