Castle Nut Thread Pitch
« on: November 21, 2018, 02:08:02 PM »
What is the thread pitch on the various castle nuts used on the GTR ( front/rear axles, rear brake anchor arm, center stand bolts)? Thanks in advance!

No-one picking up on this one so I've dug out the forum pitch gauge!!

Starting with the larger nuts, both wheel spindle and the swingarm nut are 14 x 1.5mm, same nuts used on all 3.

        Centre stand pivot, 12 x 1.5mm

I don't believe there is a 10mm castle nut on the 350 but if there is, it will be 10 x 1.25mm. I have a 10mm shoulderd bolt in my spares box but may not be off a BS.

Both rear brake arm nuts are 8 x 1.25mm. Note they have different part numbers so may vary in height. Can't check the forward one without standing on my head, don't do that these days  :D ;D :D ^-^.

I've noticed stainless castle nuts are now commonly available. You can safely buy SS for the 8mm size , they are ISO but may not easily find our JIS nuts in the larger sizes. May have to be made.

Trust I've covered them all,     Brian.

For our newer members here's a link to the BS thread pitch guide prepared by our dear, late friend Graham Weeks.
Have only just noticed he didn't cover the wheel and swingarm spindle threads, which is shown above.

FYI:  Front and rear axle castle nut are chromed on BS 350's Part number 09522-102, cost  10$ each, as I bought 2 from Richard a couple months ago.  Nice chrome NOS correct part. Jeff Bar
