GTR Handlebars
« on: January 16, 2017, 11:26:59 AM »
Need to know what type of handlebar would be a good substitute for the now unobtanium original 'bars for a GTR. Can anyone reccomend a specfic supplier, i.e. Flanders?. I would not care if it also had a cross-brace, as on a GTO; I think that it would  give the GTR a distinctive look. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
When you finish with Davis, call me if you don't buy his. I have a set of GTO bars freshly chromed and nice.

This has been raised by a number of members recently. There are no substitute, off the shelf, bars available that match the GTR shape. Could use a couple myself.                       Guys, Is it time to have some made ? ?    Richard ?

Have you checked with Richard? He bought the remainder of the reproductions that Kotaro made a couple years ago.  They may be gone now, but check if you haven't already.

The forward handlebars are the Yamaha TX500. Behind that is me holding GTR bars for comparison.
The GTR bars come up sooner and bend down a little steeper. They also seem to be slightly longer.

They are pretty close and would do in a pinch. If there wasn't another GTR (with correct bars) sitting next to these, who would know, or care...er...sorry moonpup (purist)...;-)

I didn't compare cable holes, but I'm guessing they are interchangeable.

I  established all the dimensions as used by Flanders to describe their available 22mm/ 7/8in handlebars. If memory serves the closest I came was a Suzuki bar used on a 250 streetbike from the 80's or newer. So,MAYBE narrow the search down to this brand...if in fact the bar is still listed/available with Flanders. This would be applicable for a 350GTR.

Certain Honda 125 models used bars that look very similar to GTR but never been in a position to compare.                             Brian.
