Crankcase repair BS90 trail
« on: March 14, 2014, 07:07:35 AM »
My 1965 BS90 Trail had a hole in crankcase A, near the drive sprocket.  It was hidden under years of chain lube and dirt.  Brought it to my local welding shop for repair.  He filled the hole, fixed a crack and bead blasted it.  Looks good, should work great!

After having the hole in crankcase A repaired, discovered there was a stud for the chain guard missing.  I thought the hole was from internal damage.  Turns out the chain must of come off and tore it off.  Brought it back to local welding shop for repair and bead blasting.  Learned valuable lesson.  If you have damaged cases, look at all cases together to determine extent of damage!

Is this case from the same bike that had the shaft damage? if so, it's been through a rough slog! :o

Hey bert, No.  The 90 sport (o.i.) had the shaft damage.  This bike was in rough shape.  This is a photo of under the transmission case.

Amazing how these things get beat up and abused but still we manage to undo the damage and make them nice again.
