Needed: Functional AC Dynamo, post 16G

Anyone have one they are willing to part with, or know where I can find one? Nothing on eBay, though I do have and inquiry in to Richard. Opened mine up and it's junk. I only test rode the bike and lights on a fully charged battery before tearing it apart, so had no clue if the dynamo worked, but given the level of corrosion and parts and crap that fell out, I can't imagine it.

If you searched eBay with "Dynamo" nothing shows up, with "Generator" you get these......

Of course, who knows if any of them are functional and since I'm a 350 guy, I wouldn't know if they're pre or post 16G.  Good luck.

I stand to be corrected on this but I seem to remember reading in an old post the pre and post 16G alternators are interchangeable by swapping the drive gear and points cam and plate. Anyone confirm ?
That raises another question, would a pre 16G (1/2 engine speed) alternator give a higher wattage output if converted to run at engine speed. Solution to lack of output on 350s ?
        Just a thought, Brian.

I just went through all this.... It isn't fun swapping out the generators.
The guy who helped me build my engine the first time (and it blew up) also built the generator and it didn't work. I didn't find out until I mounted it on the second engine rebuild and rode it around.  Then I had to tear it apart... again and rebuild it myself.
i was able to bench test mine that was a swap of many parts.  Don't let the nasty rotor or alternator windings fool you.  i had a super clean windings and it wasn't functioning.  I swapped it with a nasty rusty looking one and it worked perfectly.
Bearings can be found for those as well.  Mine were really rusted and I cleaned them up pretty good but new bearings can be had cheap and swapped in.  I have new bearings now.

Here is a youtube of my bench test:

The first design of these generators was 1/2 engine speed.
2nd was full engine speed
3rd was full engine speed

Anyhow... I hope this helps but I can't weigh in on of the 1/2 speed can run at full speed with higher wattage....

The early type generator is exactly the same as the later one.
I know this for sure because I bought a brand new early generator off Dusty Jordan many years ago for my HS 175.
I did exactly as he told me - which was:
Fit the later type gear, points cam, back plate and points.
It worked perfectly just as he said it would. After all, he was a Bridgestone dealer/specialist.
