choke cable problem
« on: September 05, 2016, 04:32:20 PM »
Hi Guys,  Here is the problem.  I had to replace the throttle cable with a new one from Richard on my GTR.  Now I'm having difficulty getting the choke to work.  It doesn't seem to stretch the cable like I think it should.  I even replaced the choke control at the handle bars.  Do I need to remove the left side cover, the tank or maybe both to get at the problem.  I'm at a loss of what to do next.  HELP!!  Thanks, Harry

If the problem started when you replaced the throttle cable, the ends of the  choke cable may not be seated into the ferrules of the choke fittings at one or both carbs. One or both may have been pulled out and not gone back into the fittings properly.   If that is not it,  you may have the choke cable misrouted or pinched under the tank. Loosen or pull the tank and see if the problem goes away.

Karl,  Thanks for the fast reply.  I was afraid of that.  I'll try your suggestions and get back to you in a couple days.  Thanks again,  Harry
