TAKA INFO
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:49:44 PM »
I am new to this sight.  I joined because I am looking at 2 Rockford Taka bikes.  They are rough, if you go by the JVEMC of 1-6 I would put them at a little better than 5.

What I need to know is if these are worth anything at all.  I have found very little info on them.

I always check to see what I am getting and then get all the info I can find before making a purchase.

So if you can give me an estimate of worth for a running in rough shape bike that is what I will be interested in.

Thanks so much for your time!

Mark; while not being a Rockford model expert, I would think a TAKA in that good of condition would be worth at least 1000$

Hey Jeff:

The guy finally sent me a set of pictures of the bikes.  Even though the photo on Craig's List makes the bike look good it is in rough condition and the spare bike is a lot worst as it is missing a lot of parts and seized.  If you are a member or the VJEMC, they have a Price Guide that I live but for projects.  They do not list the Rockford Bikes yet.  But by their grading I would put them at a 6 being the lowest-worst condition.

Anyhow...  On the best of the 2 it is missing a number of key parts to run that the spare bike does not have.  There is no way to assemble one complete bike.  I have hit the web hard sourcing out parts and I felt that even though the bikes are priced low they would not make for a good fix, ride and repair bike.  This is what I enjoy doing.  If the bike performs better than I hope it gets the restoration and I will keep it.  As for these they were just too far gone.  Since then they have been relisted on Craig's List and he has dropped the price $100.00.

Here is the post.     http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/mcy/1443521664.html

In the picture it looks very good.  In the pictures I got it is not that great.  Granted the bike would clean up very nice but there are just to many expensive parts missing, Most every piece of rubber... all Cables look to be shot and a variety of other parts missing to complete the bike.  If I had a Taka that needed some of the parts this would be a good deal as there are good parts.  But to spend the money to get one of them back on the road will be to expensive for a resale profit I think.

I suppose I could post the picture here if you are interested. As I do not see them selling in my area for $250.00.  So if there is a person on this sight that is interested....
