350 Clutch Springs
« on: October 02, 2010, 09:49:56 AM »
Does anyone know the difference between the original 350 clutch spring (2218-9001) and the later replacement type (2218-9000)...I seem to remember reading that the clutches on early GTRs (below frame no 4000 ish) had problems, so was this replacement spring part of the cure? Am I better off just using the replacement type?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve
On my clutch springs i am going to use a washer to pre load the spring and i will run the bike and then do my clutch adjustments.
And i will do that on Richard Bridgestone 350 the same!
Thanks.
Reed.

I removed two opposite clutch springs at about 10,000 miles.  No noticeable difference over the next 40,000 miles, other than a lighter clutch pull.  Mine is the later style clutch.  Appears to me that the clutch has plenty of grip, so variations in the springs is probably not critical, as long as they are all the same.

And if you don't like heavy feel on the clutch you can take the washers out  and use a thinner   washer so its very little cost.
But on mine i will do a wet clutch and i think it will be smoother take off when i get some time!
Thanks.
Reed.
