BS 90 Find
« on: November 10, 2015, 06:50:48 PM »
Hello,
I have acquired a BS 90 and know nothing about it.  Any help would be great.  Attached are the pictures and the Model.  If anyone would be willing to help with the year and any other info, that would be very nice of you.

I am also in need of finding rings for this unit, along with other items.  Then engine was seized, not any more.  It has spark.  Many of the wires are chewed through from being in a barn since 1976.

Currently, I am in need of finding the piston size to find a set of rings.  They broke while getting the corrosion off the piston.  Many other parts are needed, but this is the main one right now.  I have a list if anyone is willing to help expedite it.

Kind regards,
Justin

Welcome to the site, Justin. You can find serial numbers at www.bridgestone.skew and find a parts catalog and service manual at www.bridgestonemotorcycle.com. I'm sure the same info is somewhere on this site, I just don't know where. Both those sites have some historic info as well. I have 3 of these I'm restoring (and probably buying a 4th next week). Holler if you have questions. Good luck.

Justin,  welcome to the group!  Your bike was made in April, 1965.  Here's the link to the info.

It's the same as the Standard/Trail models.  The Surfrider is a bit of a mystery?  Not sure what makes it a Surfrider.  Everything you need to know about these bikes can be found on this site!  Use the search feature from the menu bar.  Good luck! Steve

Surf rider was a label, that was used on some Bridgestones that were sold thru a reitail outlet. I forget what outlet  it was. I think there's a reference to Surfriders  on this web site and a picture of a  60 Surfrider.

Thanks for the help. Any way to get parts any faster? I called and was told a month to get back to me.

Does your bike have the BS medallion or the surf rider on the gas tank ?

Would anyone be able to tell me what bolts on to the top of the fender?  Has three holes drilled in the top of the fender.  Was there an emblem that goes there??

Hi Justin;
  I know this is an old post, but was curious to see how you were coming along with your project? I, too, own a '65 90 Surfrider, mine being a Mountaineer model. Haven't started the resto yet, but it looks to be in commensurate condition with yours. Paul had commented to the Surfrider history, and it's hard to find known documentation. The only reason I'm suspect that it's not for a select retailer, is that the surfrider name appears on the VIN Badge, and I don't believe that can be altered once it leaves the manufacturer, leading me to believe it was something contrived at the factory level, and not through Rockford. I'm not positive of that, and there are many people on this site with more knowledge than I, but that's what I've uncovered so far. Keep me posted on your progress.
Thanks,
...Kerry
