Good Day, Graham!
  I have a new entry for you in The 350GTR VIN listings. Just purchased a 350GTR while on Holiday in Iowa. The VIN reads 21U03983, superceding the existing end number for Sept. 1967 production, currently listed as 03940. This particular bike is bearing a frame number of NA1-04007. Remarkably close. I have not gotten to the engine number yet. The bike is currently titled as a 1969, which I will get changed to reflect the proper 1968 model year.

Hope this finds you well,

Kerry Pagenkopf

Hi, I joined a few weeks ago when I first got my 350 GTR. Frame no is NA1-00284 but i've now found the plate at the back of the frame and its clearly 21000271 which doesn't seem to fit in. Engine no is 240. Am I reading it correctly?

Hi, Jon,

Yes, that seems a bit weird. The number set (...240, ...284 and ...270) seem consistent are close enough to be the original frame and engine.

I agree, though, that the "210" prefix on the plate doesn't tally. "21R" sounds much more likely and I wonder if you've misread the lettering on the plate. Is it damaged and scratched, as that can make the stamping hard to read?

Graham

Still a glitch here somewhere. If the 21R00244 on the list is valid, your bike would have been produced a month before, but 27 units later in the production sequence. Doesn't add up, and your vin tag certainly appears to authenticate.......Graham????? any ideas.

We need Bikenstein to tell us what his vin is. He's said in the past that it's number 108, but I can't find the complete number. I'm betting now that it's 21Qxxxxxx.

Also, maybe Graham didn't get the complete vin for #244 and (sorry) assumed it was an "R" date?

Graham; Hope this finds you well;
  I have a some new serial numbers to report, and one is rather exciting, at least for me. Purchased a couple of 100's for parts. One of them is a 100 trail-OI with the VIN plate of 22C-000055. Frame number is 000058. This would validate March production. The engine is a 20C number which bothered me initially until I read other comments you had posted about those being correct. Please add it to the list. The other bike is a '71 TMX, with VIN # 22N013134. As we have no starting number for that months production currently, would you kindly add it to the list also. The 3rd bike in the lot was a '66 DT175. It's VIN is 16K19968, which is later than the current number shown as last produced for the Nov. '66 production. Would you also add that in. Thanks so much for all you do in helping keep these archives alive. Your work is invaluable to us all.
