1968 Restored BRIDGESTONE 175 Dual Twin

FOR SALE        1968 Restored BRIDGESTONE 175 Dual Twin

Bridgestone Motorcycles were designed & manufactured by a company we now only associate with tires. Introduced in the US in 1965, the Bridgestone 175 ‘Dual Twin’ was a popular and attractive motorcycle known for its elegant design and high quality engineering. The engines were well designed, simple to service, and used the very best cutting edge materials, with dual cylinders and dual carburetors.  But Bridgestone was in a tricky situation: selling motorcycle tires to Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki while building a motorcycle to compete with them.  When the major competitors threatened to look for alternative suppliers for their motorcycle tires, Bridgestone made a business decision to focus exclusively on tires in 1971.
This is a rare example of the Japanese 2 stroke Motorcycles that were so popular throughout the 1960’s:  A 1968 complete and original Bridgestone 175 Dual Twin.  Features original equipment, including exhaust and paint.  Chrome shines very well throughout.  Seat is in great shape.  Front end, fenders, brakes and forks are all in good condition with some nice patina. Unique gearbox design can be switched from a four speed rotary pattern (First gear can be engaged directly from fourth by just depressing the shift lever forward twice) to a five speed option by flicking a “sport shift” lever mounted on the left side.  Oil injection system functions great!  Speedometer glass is clear and reads appx. 10,700 miles.  The overall condition of this bike is really nice and something to proudly display.
This 50 year old Motorcycle comes with a good Virginia title.  It has been garaged and just serviced by Crossroads Cycle in Falls Church, Virginia.
Bike comes with PDF copies of a complete set of Bridgestone 175 Technical documentation:  the Parts Manual, Operators Manual, road test reports, pictures, and every Service Manual I’ve found for the Bridgestone 175.  A number of spare parts will also convey with the motorcycle.
Cycle Road Test #148 describes it as follows:   “The Bridgestone Dual-Twin is one of the finest two-stroke lightweights we have had the pleasure to test, and is also one of the most technically advanced.”

I have put $3200 into this bike, but am selling it for:$2900.00
