What's it worth?
« on: April 30, 2010, 12:41:53 PM »
I'm just curious as to the worth/value of a fully restored 350 GTR/GTO. I know they're worth whatever someone is willing to pay but aside from that, what kind of prices has a bike in that condition been getting?

I've seen these bikes in varying stages of condition that needed work, go between $1,500 - $2,000, but have never seen the price of a restored bike. Any thoughts?

For example, there's a GTR that's currently on eBay and here in the classifieds for $5,000 + and while it's all there and in pretty good condition, there's still quite a bit of work/attention needed on it to be fully restored. Do restored ones command such a price that this bike would be considered a good starting point?

Again, I'm just curious and thanks in advance for any and all comments.

You are correct you never seem to see correctly restored GTR s sell or even being sold.
Usually after people spend that much money and work, they do not sell them.

I remember about 18 months ago, someone from OK sold a beautiful red GTR that our Richard Clark
has owned before. It was really nice, much better than that one on ebay now, it was NOT rusty and
did not require the chrome to be redone.   It was a really nice original bike that had been well taken
care of. I think it sold for 3500$  Which I feel was low.

That Dave guy on ebay is dreaming, 5000$ for it, since it needs 3500$ worth of chrome.  Even though
it looks nice from a distance, it is still a restoration project.  I would est it 3000$ tops, but that is
just my opinion.  I bet he has something to say about my opinion. Ha ha.  He is on this board but never
post anything except to promote his stuff.  However he seems to be getting top dollar plus for some items.

Most people seem to pay 1500$ then restore it. as a rule of thumb all  bikes will require chrome
so no need to pay too much for something to re-chrome anyway.

I heard Jay Leno paid 10,000 for one still in the crate, however I am not sure.

I think a properly restored GTR would being 8000$ easy.  but they would most likely have that much in it too.

It will be interesting to see what the one that Steve and Richard are doing now, turns out.  Looks like
Steve Reed is doing the work and Richard Clark will be supplying  the parts.

Just my two cents worth.

Jeff, from my limited knowledge you are about right, I did not realize chrome costs so much. Luke

Hey Jeff
I am really a Kawasaki man but i love Bridgestone too i have built a lot of Kawasaki z1 h2 in my 35 years in the motorcycle industry.
Richard has a lot of knowledge on Bridgestones including 350 gtr so he is supplying knowledge and parts on this restoration.
Thanks.
Reed.

Just wanted to let everyone know that my 350 GTR  is sold. It is headed to a museum in New Zealand, I hope it enjoys its new home.

While I'm happy for you that you were able to sell your bike, I'm also a little disappointed that you didn't mention the price you recieved for it.

I understand that you're not required to do so and that it might be a personal thing, but in the spirit of this thread, it might have helped to establish a more current base at which to compare condition to price.

There has been a lot of interest in Bridgestone lately from collectors and museums and i think the motorcycles
will fetch a much higher prices!
There not that many Bridgestone 350 gtr around so if you see one jump on it!
Market value is determined by the availability of these rare machines
Thanks.
Reed..
