The other thing at play here is the dimensional combination of parts in a specific assembly. All these parts vary out of the manufacturing process they came from and in some cases an unfortunate dimensional (tolerance) stack will lead to an assembly more prone to failure. I doubt we'll every completely unearth this one. Just beware "kick gear C".
